Hook Mountain, December 15th 4708AR
With a final word of dismissal Barl, Lord of Hook Mountain, unleashes a demonstration of the Wrathlord’s might. Awakening 4 ancient skeletons from within the stone “statues” lining the room he prepares to punish those who would defy his rightful rule. The combat that ensues is short and brutal and ends with Barl dead and the party victorious.

In the aftermath the former bodyguard of Barl, Jor the stone giant, speaks to them a bit. He tells them of Mokmurian the Wrathlord’s general, of Barls mission to brign the ogre clans to join the General’s armies, of their home in the northern mountains, of his corrupting influence on the tribes and their abandonment of the old ways. Jor agrees to accompany the group to the shores of Claybottom lake where he plans to head east avoiding the civilization of the small folk.

Shimmerglens, December 16th 4708AR
The group heads back to Whitewillow and returns the body of Lamatar to his dead lover’s ghost. She uses the last of her power to return him to life and health and then fades away. Confused and saddened he recounts the fall of Fort Rannick, the capture of he and his rangers, and the Crone’s use of them in their ritual. The group returns to Turtleback Ferry, where news of their victory is as welcome as the subsiding flood waters.

A small party in the local tavern marks the groups victory and mourns the loss of the Black Arrows that died. The remaining few say they plan to winter in the ruins, doing what they can to clean and keep the place free of squatters and creatures that might seek to lair there. They ask the party to carry a letter to the Magnimarian military in the south, telling them of their need of men and a crew to repair the damage to the keep. The party agrees and makes plans to make their way south looking for Kaven, the Black Arrow that got a way…

And so ends chapter 3, The Hook Mountain Massacre.
